About the IMC Conference:

The Integrated Marketing Communication Conference (IMC Conference) is a two day, content packed event with a central theme focused on using different combinations of communication disciplines (i.e. Advertising, Direct Marketing, Public Relations, etc.) in synergy, with the purpose of delivering the right message to the desired audience.

The conference aims to find a balance between educating, entertaining and engaging the delegates, giving them first-hand, case-study exposure to the most innovative IMC trends. From this, delegates will be able to select the tools which they feel can be best implemented to suit their marketing communication strategies.

What makes the IMC Conference unique?

Having a unique competitive advantage is what positions a brand as a leader in its industry, and what makes this marketing conference appealing is its selection of speakers, unique format and customisation feature.

The IMC Conference is divided into two sections: Keynote Presentations and Workshops. Keynotes will be presented by top industry speakers selected from various communication backgrounds, who will share case studies highlighting their experiences in the industry.

Workshops are designed to give delegates more in-depth insights into the trends of various fields they specialise in. The workshops are formatted in such a way that allows delegates to customize their experience by only selecting workshops that would meet their specific communication needs. Each workshop will be hosted by a leading marketing agency and they will facilitate interactive discussions and engage with the audience.

A new feature will see content being built around the delegates prior the events whereby when delegates register, key takeouts of what they would like to extract from the events will be used as market research. Selected speakers will then centre their presentations based on the what the delegates want to hear.

Previous IMC Conferences:

The inaugural IMC Conference was held in 2010 in Cape Town and hosted speakers with the likes of Chris Moerdyk (Bizcommunity), Walter Pike (PIKE) and Ben Wagner (NATIVE), attracting approximately 200 marketing delegates from across the country.

After the success of the IMC Conference in 2010, a big demand came from Johannesburg which led to the hosting of the first Johannesburg event in 2011. Speakers at this conference included Heidi Brauer (Group Marketing British Airways), Nikki Cockcroft (Woolworths) and Nazeer Suliman (Microsoft), to name a few. This event saw 250 marketing delegates in full attendance.

The year 2012 was the first in which the IMC Conference was hosted in both cities and saw the country’s top media and marketing minds convene at the Crystal Towers Hotel and Maslow Hotel respectively. The superior quality mix of speakers in Cape Town included Jason Xenopoulos (NATIVE), Ivan Johnson (BBDO), Mike Sharman (Retroviral) and Suhana Gordhan (Black River FC), to name a few. Johannesburg saw the likes of international speaker Joshua Michel-Ross (Fleishman-Hillard Europe), Abey Mokgwastane (Ogilvy SA) joining Andrea Quaye (Carling Black Label), Melissa Attree (Cerebra) and more.

The Year 2013:

The 5th and 6th IMC Conferences hosted at the Cape Town International Convention Centre and Maslow Hotel respectively, saw top industry leaders who can be described as some of the foremost thinkers in their respective fields deliver refreshing, insightful and thought-provoking content. The overriding theme of the year was ‘brand purpose’, with most of the speakers holding the view that having a unique competitive advantage, glued together by authenticity and a clarity of purpose, will position a brand as a leader in its industry.

Cape Town’s speakers included the likes of Ahmed Tilly (Black River FC), Andy Gilder (Machine), Sizakele Marutlulle (ABSA) and Xolisa Dyeshana (Joe Public) to name a few, and Johannesburg saw the likes of Bernice Samuels (FNB), Mike Stopforth (Cerebra) and Richard Boorman (Vodacom), Ivan Moroke (TBWA/HUNT/LASCARIS) and Kevin Welman (Fleishman Hillard SA) to name a few.

The Year 2014:

With preparations well underway, 2014 promises to raise the bar and elevate the quality of the IMC Conference series to a whole new level. The new year will see the conference series being hosted in 3 major cities across the country including Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.
