Nthabiseng Matshekga holds a BCom Economics and has completed the Management Development Programme (MDP) as well as obtaining a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA). Before being appointed as Executive Head of Marketing for Nedbank Group, her career saw her in a variety of management and strategic positions with some of the most recognisable local and international brands.
After graduating, she had the opportunity to hone her skills in the FMCG environment as part of a graduate management development programme offered by Masterfoods SA. It was here that she also discovered her passion for marketing. Her subsequent career trajectory included a stint as Executive HOD of Segment Marketing at Vodacom Business, where she led a cross-functional team in the development of marketing strategies, brand positioning and client value proportions for a number of key enterprise segments.
Prior to that, Matshekga helped chart the marketing course for key brands of global giant, PepsiCo/Simba. Her roles in this organisation saw her championing the role of digital marketing and thought leadership. She also led an array of strategic initiatives in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, including various number global sponsorship programmes such as AFCON and the Cricket World Cup.
In her new role as Executive Head of Group Marketing for Nedbank, Matshekga is primarily responsible for leveraging the bank’s client insights and understanding and bringing these to life in compelling ways that amplify Nedbank’s purpose-led brand and value proposition. But what she is most excited about it the opportunity her role affords her to not only to work in a field she loves but do so for an organisation that is so closely aligned to her lived experience, personal values and desire to impact the world positively.
